Classes for Actors
Dianne and Lorrie Hull’s classes offer intensive training in a broad spectrum of acting tools. The teaching includes techniques of:
* Relaxation
* Concentration
* Sense Memory
* Improvisation
* Cold Reading
* Affective Memory

Actors learn how to create a life for a character. This includes such specifics as:
Breaking down a script, and:
Understanding a character’s:
* choices
* inner actions
* physical actions
* script subtext
* emotions and perceptions
* motivations

The Actor’s Training includes coaching for specific auditions. Actors also have the opportunity to work with writers and directors.

For Directors and Writers
Directors are guided in all phases of directing. Writers work with actors and directors on their original material.
Private Coaching
Private coaching, at $85/hr., provides an opportunity for the actor to receive intensive, individual guidance for auditions or general instruction. Dianne and Lorrie work toward refining an actor’s performance to help ensure confidence and a positive outcome. Personal coaching is available daily.

Classes are continuous and you may join at any time.

One class/wk- $400/6 weeks
$800/12 weeks

Two classes/wk- $800/6 weeks
$1600/12 weeks

Three classes/wk- $1188/6 weeks
$2376/12 weeks

Four classes/wk- $1600/6 weeks
$3200/12 weeks
A $100.00 down payment will reserve a place in any class.

Short term intensive workshops may be arranged.

Wed-Sat: 10am - 1pm
Tuesday: 7:30pm - 10:30pm
Thursday: 10:00am - 1:00pm
Students may enroll in one to four classes per week.
Absentee Policy
All absences may be made up by attending a different class, but must be made up within the student’s tuition period (for example, within a 6 week or 12 week period)

Diane Hull

Known today as one of America’s distinguished character actresses, Dianne was introduced to audiences in Elia Kazan’s The Arrangement. Dianne’s long acting career includes starring and co-starring roles in Film, TV and Stage, including The Onion Field, The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking, Aloha Bobby and Rose, Spielberg’s Amazing Stories and The Wonder Years, among many others. Lorrie Hull

A former University Professor, Lorrie Hull was the senior faculty member for Lee Strasberg for 12 years, she taught for five years for the American Film Institute’s Public Service Programs. As Strasberg’s senior faculty member, Lorrie was the only instructor chosen by Mr. Strasberg to teach his course, “Understanding of the Method.
In the fall of 1988, Lorrie, along with the Moscow Art Theatre Instructors, was chosen one of the worldwide experts to teach at the International Stanislavski Conference at the Pompidou Center in Paris.

Dr. Hull has conducted acting and directing seminars and workshops worldwide: in Sweden, Monaco (for Princess Grace), France, New York University, Northwestern U., Yale U., U. of Wisconsin and UCLA, among numerous universities, as well as in New York, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Des Moines, Kalamazoo and Omaha.
Lorrie is an award winning director and has been a member of the Actors Studio Directors’ and Writers’ Units, as well as a member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre.
She has also been an acting coach for motion picture and television productions, having coached for Lorimar, Warner Brothers, and MGM Studios.
Lorrie’s book is in libraries around the world and is used as a textbook by colleges, universities and other professional teachers in New York, Los Angeles, at RADA and elsewhere in the U.S. and abroad.
The new video and DVD, “The Method”, featuring Lorrie and her students, is being sold worldwide.
Lorrie Hull studied with Lee Strasberg and Herbert Berghof. She has been on the faculty of Ripon college and the University of Wisconsin, and was a founder and first president of the North American Regional Theatre Alliance.
She was a delegate and workshop leader to International Theatre Conferences in Sweden, Monaco, Canada and the U.S.
Lorrie has two children, Dianne of Santa Monica, California, and Donald of Harahan, Louisiana. Her greatest joys are her grand-children, Emily and Evan Hull of Harahan, Louisiana, and Brendan Gillespie of Santa Monica, California.

William Smithers and Lorrie were married November 25, 1995 and live in Santa Barbara, California. Lorrie continues her teaching with daughter Dianne in Santa Monica.

I personally reccomend this class.I also took it in 2002 and it helped me a great deal.Lorrie and Diane Hull are excellent professionals and great teachers as well as a great company.
